AIRFIELD CARPET is laid on a bombed-out Luftwaffe base by a “stamplicker” (left), which unrolls
osphalt-impregnated "hessian mat” while Marauders take off from a near-by strip. This surfacing material
hos helped our Engineers provide fields for tactical air forces giving close support fo ground forces.
