19-Ton Bakery on Wheels Travels With Army

Traveling with troops into the field, a bread baker on wheels, built for the U. S. Army, is designed to turn out the “staff of life” at the rate of 4,000 loaves a day. The Takery, which weighs 19 tons, is constructed in two units. The front truck contains an electric generator, motor-driven dough mixer that can handle 150 pounds at one time, a dough trough, tanks for 250 gallons of water, automatic molder and other equipment. In the trailer there are a revolving oven and storage racks.
