Medal mint by the municipality of Rome in 1848 for the roman citizens volunteering with papal troops of general Durando at Vicenza, against the Austrian Imperial army. The obverse bears the crowned coat of arm of the city of Rome encircled with a cross-tied oak wreath. Inscriptions:
Obverse: ALME VRBIS COSS. BENEMERENTI.
Reverse: PVGNA STRENVE/ AD VICETIAM/ PVGNATA/ IV EIDVS IVNIAS/ MDCCCXLVIII.
The medal is suspended from a half red half yellow ribbon.
