A new-type sound detector for locating approaching
aircraft, being tested by the U.S. Army at recent
maneuvers. Like other devices of its kind, it picks
up faint vibrations from plane motors and propellers
and finds the direction from which they come, to aid
antiaircraft gunners. Other new developments in no-
