SCALE  models, accurately reproducing the
appearance of principal types of German
and American tanks, are helping to train
U.S. soldiers in instant recognition of friend-
ly and hostile armored vehicles. In the
hurly-burly of a modern tank engagement,
the lives of men and the outcome of battles
may depend on split-second decisions as to
whether mechanized units glimpsed fleet-
ingly under varying conditions of distance
and light belong to our own forces or to
those of the enemy.
