A NEW type of respirator for soldiers op-
erating in either dusty or smoke-filled
areas has been developed by the Chemical
‘Warfare Service, and has already been is-
sued in quantity to our forces fighting on
desert fronts. Selected after long experi-
mentation with a wide variety of respira-
tors, the new mask consists of a filtering
felt mounted on a rubber frame, and carries

both an inlet and outlet valve. Among its
many advantages are that it is light and
comfortable, doesn’t hamper the vision, and
will stand up under the hardest usage. The
respirator carries no lenses as it is intended
to supplement the goggles usually worn by
truck drivers and motorcyclists.
