Parachutes  made of a strong and re-

silient paper known as Para-Crepe have
been designed for the dropping of emergen-
cy supplies such as food, water, medicine,
and clothing. Tests have shown that the
chutes open in from one to three seconds,
make accurate descents from low altitudes,
and can handle loads up to 50 pounds. A
product of the Dennison Manufacturing
Co., of Framingham, Mass., the sturdy
chute can be refolded as shown in the draw-
ing and used again. It weighs less than a
pound and a half and helps to conserve
silk for regular chutes.
