TWENTY-FIVE CASTAWAYS, with enough
supplies to last them 30 days, find ample
room in the world’s largest rubber raft, pro-
duced by the Firestone Tire and Rubber
Company and tried out by the Coast Guard. |
Deflated and packed, as at lower left, theboat measures only seven by five by 1 1/2
feet. Only four minutes are needed to un-
pack and launch it. Three transverse pneu-
matic benches, 10 feet long, serve as seats;
a weather curtain (lower right) protects
occupants from wind, water, and sun.
