Part of Battlefield X-Ray Examines a Soldier a Minute
Fastest portable X-ray in the world is the battlefield unit being distributed to army bases in the United States and its possessions. It takes just ten minutes to set the machine up in the field, and then it permits X-ray examination of one soldier per minute, Its purpose is to locate the position of bullets and shell fragments in wounded men where hospital facilities are not available, particularly in making direct studies of the patient without the use of films. It can be used, however, for making X-ray pictures as well. Regulation army stretchers will serve as tabletops for the unit. The stretcher bearing a patient can be placed directly on the frame and removed again after the examination has been made, so that the patient need not be disturbed.
