inventions which
the ‘war in Eu-
rope has stimu-
lated is a very
small, but none
the less service-
able, pocket peri-
scope. The sol-
dier, concealed
behind an intrenchment, can quickly at-
tach this tiny instrument to the barrel
of his rifle, to a pole, or to a trench-
digging tool, and can readily observe, by |
means of the two circular mirrors, the
movements of his antagonists in the dis-
tance without exposing himself.
