Part of Miniature Sister of Big Tugboat Runs under Own Steam

Steam-powered like its big sister, the Great Lakes tugboat “Kentucky”, a miniature tug, was launched recently from a raft for a tour of Buffalo harbor. Built to scale and measuring five feet from bow to stern, the model tug has a steam engine| with a piston stroke of one and one-half inches, and carries thirty-five pounds of steam. Her boiler is a three-and-one-half inch pipe eight inches long, inside a two-gallon can. Built of light sheet metal, and painted the brilliant red and green of the full-size original, the model toots a diminutive whistle and belches smoke from an eight-inch stack.
